Meet the Midwife
Sera Gadbois, CPM
Sera has been serving families in Connecticut’s home birth community since 2007, attending more than 600 births with steady hands and a deeply compassionate heart. Her experience spans uncomplicated pregnancies as well as breech and twin births, IVF pregnancies, VBACs, and other unique circumstances that require both clinical discernment and calm confidence.
She understands firsthand the courage and healing that can unfold in a redemptive birth experience. She believes birth is both physiological and sacred — a profound intersection of body, mind, and faith. Her care is deeply shaped not only by professional experience, but by her own journey through motherhood.
Sera is the mother of seven children, ranging from a forever baby to adulthood, including both biological and foster/adopted children. Six of the seven children were born at home. She has also experienced the heartbreak of full term stillbirth and early pregnancy loss — journeys that deepened her empathy and reverence for each family’s unique story. These experiences anchor her work in humility, tenderness, and quiet strength.
An Orthodox Christian, Sera feels especially honored to serve families of faith, homeschooling households, and those who value medical autonomy and informed decision-making.
Sera and her husband live on a small homestead in Eastern Connecticut with their lively crew — a 17-year-old, two 16-year-olds, a 7-year-old, and a 3-year-old — and are frequently visited by their eldest, now 22. When she is not attending clients, she can be found homeschooling, reading, gardening, preserving food, lifting weights, or gathered around the table cultivating deep connection with her family and community.
